The Danish Road and Bridge Museum The Danish roads, bridges and tunnels are part of our country’s most extensive and expensive relic of the past. And one of the few still being used. The current road system includes ancient sunken roads as well as modern bridges connecting different parts of the country. Lots of interesting stories tell us about increasing mobility for people, goods and most importantly, for new ideas and thoughts. Such stories cannot be told too often; therefore it is our main objective to communicate these stories to the public. The Danish Road and Bridge Museum is a newly established museum under the Ministry of Transport. The museum is located in Holbæk near Copenhagen. Currently most activities are at a planning stage. Among other things the museum is planned to include a Historical Road, which will guide the visitor through the evolution of roads; from prehistoric fords to contemporary motorways. The display buildings will be situated along The Historical Road. The first stage of the building process includes a large exhibition hall where visitors can get an introduction to Danish road and bridge history. The Danish Road and Bridge Museum will open to the public in 2010. We’re looking forward to welcoming our guest in our new surroundings. Information |
